We must remind ourselves that for many, this Chanukah will be like no other, celebrated in isolation, either alone or only with close family members, says Rabbi Anchelle Perl, Director of Chabad Mineola on Long Island in New York.
“As we gather in the warmth of our own Chanukah lights, let us turn our own gratitude today into action, by helping so many who have fallen between the cracks during these very challenging times,” the rabbi said.
Rabbi Perl is once again hosting the annual Chabad Chanukah Telethon to be aired on Sunday, December 13, at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
The Chabad Chanukah Telethon is one of the most watched Charity Benefits across the Tri-State area. Last year’s Telethon was watched by more than 10 million viewers across Long Island, the 5 Boros, New Jersey and Westchester County.
Featuring a mix of music and inspiring messages, this year’s event will highlight friendship and the recognition that the good we have is a gift, not a paycheck, he says.
Friendship comes in many ways, he points out. “A seemingly random encounter with a Muslim man has become the basis of deep conversations on life’s mission and the unique role of each human being. For when we see G‑d present in our lives, miracles can happen, and that anything is possible,” reports Rabbi Perl.
