As part of ongoing renovations at the Shul in Lubavitch House of London, Great Britain, a new set of embroidered covers were delivered this week for the Bima, Omud and Oron Kodesh.
These have graciously been sponsored by families: Jacobs; Raskin; Schtroks; Gourarie; Karnowsky; Potash; Katzenelenbogen and anonymous.
The Shul would like to thank the new sponsors as well as acknowledge those who donated the previous set over thirty years ago and kindly agreed for these to be upgraded. Families: Stuart; Cousin; and Vogel.
In addition, the Shul would like to acknowledge all the other mispallelim and members of the community who have generously contributed towards the new Kollel; the Shul library as well as other elements of the refurbishments.
The Shul was established by Rabbi Nachman Sudak obm, Shliach of the Rebbe to Great Britain. It is housed in Lubavitch House, the first purpose-built Chabad House, built during the years 5728-30 (1968-70) with detailed guidance from the Rebbe.
[A visitor from London was once in Yechidus and the Rebbe asked his about his Kevius for learning Chasidus. To his response that he doesn’t have who to learn with, the Rebbe answered “Every Sunday night at 8:30pm there is a Shiur in Lubavitch House”…]
The center has two Shuls. A smaller Beis Medrash which is used for daily minyanim and Shiurim during the weekdays and a larger multi-purpose auditorium which was built to be used as a Shul for Shabos.
Five daily Minyanim covering Shacharis Mincah and Ma’ariv (average 30 people each) and five daily Shiurim, including: Chasidus with Rabbi S.B. Sudak at 6:30am; Gemoro with Dayan L.Y. Raskin 6pm Ein Yakov with Mr E Potash 7pm and Rambam with Mr. B Hackner at 7:30pm and a Yiddish Gemoro Shiur with R’ Yanki Gluck at 9:15pm.
On Shabbos the Shul has two simultaneous Minyanim to accommodate the larger and varied crowd. The Rav is Dayan L.Y. Raskin and gabbai is Mr. Yerucham Raskin
Following the passing of Rabbi Nachman Sudak on 17 Sivan 5774, a number of projects were launched in his memory including the recently opened Kollel and refurbishment of the Shul.
