A joyous yet emotional Bris took place on Friday, as Shluchim Rabbi Mechy and Roizy Gancz of Finchley, London named their newborn son Feivel Eliezer Tzvi at his bris milah.
The name was chosen with deep significance, in memory of two beloved Shluchim whose lives were tragically cut short by terror.
Rabbi Eli Schlanger HYD was a beloved Chabad Shliach from Bondi, Sydney, Australia who dedicated nearly two decades to spreading light and joy in his community. On the first night of Chanukah, Rabbi Schlanger was among 15 people murdered in a terror attack at the “Chanukah by the Sea” celebration on Bondi Beach. He was known for his warmth, his passion for outreach, and his tireless service to Jews of all ages.
Rabbi Tzvi Kogan HYD, was a dedicated Shliach serving the Jewish community in the United Arab Emirates. On November 21, 2024, Rabbi Kogan was abducted and murdered by terrorists in the UAE. Rabbi Kogan worked to expand Jewish life in the Gulf, including managing kosher infrastructure and education, and was deeply respected for his warmth and leadership.
May little Feivel Eliezer Tzvi grow to Torah, Chuppah, and Maasim Tovim, bringing blessing to his family and community, and may the memories of those he was named after be for a blessing. Mazal Tov!
