The Levaya of Rebbetzin Chave Hecht, the tenacious director of Camp Emunah for girls in New York who founded the NCFJE organization with her late husband Rabbi JJ Hecht and was the matriarch of a large Chabad family, took place on Tuesday in Crown Heights.
Rebbetzin Hecht (nee Lasker) established Camp Emunah, the first Chabad-Lubavitch overnight camp, which she continued to run until her passing.
Her Levaya passed by the NCFJE building on Eastern Parkway, which Rebbetzin Hecht ran together with her husband Rabbi JJ Hecht, for decades, and which she led with devotion after his passing as well.
She is survived by her children Rabbi Sholem Ber Hecht, Bassie Raskin, Fraide Sabol, Rabbi Yossie Hecht, Rabbi Shea Hecht, Dovid Sabol, Rivkie Abramowitz, Chana Rochel Duchman, Levi Hecht, Rabbi Shimon Hecht, Binie Tenenbaum; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Tzipa Goldberg of Boro Park.
She was predeceased by her son Rabbi Gershon Sabol.
She was predeceased by her brother Rabbi Tzvi Moshe Lasker 20 days ago on 15 Shvat.

No words to describe how very special Rebbetzin Hecht was. Surely there will be many, many stories told about her, some well known, some that this amazing woman discreetly carried with her, respecting the privacy of the many who confided in her.
