McCabes Wine and Spirits, a large wine, liquor, and spirit store in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, has delighted its many Kosher customers by selling their entire business’s Chometz ahead of Pesach this year.
The popular store and online sales hub is owned by Daniel Mesznik, who is Jewish. Mesznik decided to sell the Chometz of his entire business, which includes a large selection of Kosher wines and spirits, with the help of Shliach of the Upper East Side Rabbi Benzion Krasniansky and Rabbi Kalman Weinfeld, the official Rabbi of the Manhattan Beer Company, one of the area’s largest beer distributors, who sells their Chometz yearly.
After discussions with Rabbi Krasniansky and Weinfeld, Mesznik made the decision to sell his entire business for the duration of the Pesach holiday.
With the assistance of the two Rabbis, the sale of Chometz was made to the store manager Andrea Leopardi.
“The sale of Chometz was done in the most Mehudar’dike way, with all the required documents and Kinyanim,” said Rabbi Weinfeld. “This is a very big milestone for the Jewish community in New York City, and is a special gift to the Rebbe for Yud Alef Nissan,” he said.
Following the ceremony, Mesznik donned tefillin with the assistance of Rabbi Krasniansky, who also gave him Shmurah Matzah for Pesach.
