In a heartwarming display of appreciation and respect, bochurim learning in shiur gimmel Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Brunoy came together to present their beloved Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Yechiel Menachem Mendel Kalmanson, with a truly unique and meaningful gift on his 70th birthday.
After contemplation and several discussions the bochurim decided that any other gifts besides a gift connected to limud hatorah would not suffice and decided to create a one-of-a-kind sefer that would serve as a testament to their Rosh Yeshiva’s enduring impact on their lives.
The sefer also serves as a present to the Rosh Yeshiva’s twin brother, Harav Yosef Yitzchok Kalmenson, Rosh Yeshiva of New Haven.
In middle of the project the unfortunate and painful news of the passing of the Rosh Yeshiva’s wife, Mrs Sterna Kalmenson obm, which effectively turned this project to additionally be in her memory.
The ambitious project, which was only one month in the making, involved the collection of 60 innovative and insightful chidushei Torah from several prestigious rabonim from around the world with a special emphasis on alumni of Bbrunoy and acquaintances of the rosh yeshiva. These contributions, formed the foundation of a revolutionary sefer that would explore a wide range of fascinating topics in Torah.
The resulting sefer is a testament to the bochurims dedication, creativity, and reverence for their Rosh Yeshiva. This extraordinary gift not only honors the Rosh Yeshiva’s milestone birthday but also reflects the profound influence he has had on his bochurim’s growth.
The sefer includes several important and captivating chidushei Torah, here is a list of a few of these amazing works:
. A tshuva from relevant to the current situation in eretz yisroel an tshuva to the families of the hostages dealing with several questions connected to the dinim of aveilus.
. An extraordinary pilpul about the obligation of spending money on a mitzvah from Harav Dovid Lau shlit”a, former chief rabbi of israel.
. A few tshuvos dealing with the complicated dinim of writing a kesuba.
. A heorah from Harav Yosef Yitzchok Kalmenson, in connection to the chiyuv of women in hearing the megila.
The Rosh Yeshiva, visibly moved by the gesture, praised his bochurim for their thoughtfulness and creativity. He expressed his hope that the sefer would serve as a source of a tremendous kidush sheim lubavitch, being that the sefer was compiled mainly by alumni of the yeshiva.
