The students of Lighthouse Early Learning Center headed to the Jewish Children’s Museum this week, trading their classrooms for the sights, sounds, and textures of the Model Matzah Bakery.
While the trip was a great way to get into the Pesach spirit, it was also a perfect setting for the students to take what they’ve been practicing in the classroom and try it out in the real world. From the tactile experience of grinding wheat at the hand-mill to the fast-paced coordination needed to roll out dough before the 18-minute timer ran out, every station offered a unique way to engage.
The museum’s immersive exhibits turned the story of Pesach into something tangible. Whether it was navigating the “Ten Plagues” puzzles or stepping into the themed displays, the students were able to explore at their own pace and connect with the concepts in a multi-sensory way.
The highlight was the bakery itself, where the group worked through the step-by-step process of making Matzah from scratch. Each student left with their own handmade Matzah and an “I Baked My Own Matzah” hat, proud of what they were able to accomplish in such a high-energy community environment.
About Our School: At Lighthouse Early Learning Center, we understand that every child is on a unique path. We pride ourselves on providing a very warm and nurturing environment where we offer tailored support that meets every student exactly where they are
For our younger students (Ages 3-5), we focus on a preschool foundational model, building critical skills like communication, play, and self-regulation through nurturing activities. For our school-age students (Ages 5-8), we shift to a higher academic level, using specialized instruction for reading, math, and literacy to prepare them for the future. In every classroom, children receive personal attention from licensed therapists and educators to gain the school and life skills they need to thrive.
