The Zekelman Standards for Judaic Studies bring learning standards and accountability to Chumash and Gemara, and are now online for any principal, teacher or interested parent to browse.
The new and interactive website allows users to sign up and access the complete set of standards free of charge, and offers various support resources for their successful deployment for an annual fee.
Used in dozens of schools around the world, the Zekelman Standards have introduced transparency in the world of Torah education and have set a communal standard for what is to be expected to be learned in our schools and classrooms.
With the launch of the brand new www.ZekelmanStandards.org, the pioneering project is now being made widely available to the greater Jewish school network in a user-friendly, virtual home.
In the words of a first subscriber, the website “is an answer to a teacher’s dreams. The layout is clear and structured, and allows for distinct progress from year to year within each standard. The assessment tools will bring our school into a whole new phase.”

The standards are a project of the Menachem Education Foundation, and have been generously endowed by Mr. Alan Zekelman in honor of his late parents, Yechzekel ben Avraham Aharon and Rus bas Avraham. The launch of this exciting new website is set to coincide with Mr. Zekelman’s father’s yartzeit on Hey Adar. May the merit of bringing the skills for lifelong learning to thousands of Jewish students worldwide be l’iluy nishmaso.
Can’t wait for the Gemora Standards to be placed on the website.
The hours, days, weeks, months and years of effort to produce such a product!! Thank you Thank you Thank you! As a teacher I have a deep, deep appreciation for this!! And as a parent it gives me so much hope that my children can reap the benefits of these standards and incredible program iy’H.
A tremendous yasher ko’ach!
I love your great work! Keep it up !
Thank you to The Zekelman family for their generosity. Thank you to the people who worked countless hours to compile this data. The struggle for our schools has never been about not knowing what to teach, rather how to teach. While this is an important step in the right direction, how are we to ensure that our children are mastering theses skills before being moved along the factory line? How are we to ensure that the learning and assessments are aligned to the prescribed standards and benchmarks?
BH’ FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

This website is a watershed moment in Jewish education.
Without standards there is no way to gauge progress or regress for that matter.. at best teachers would have arbitrary standards which were not cohesive from year to the next or one school to the next.. the next step is to create a universal curriculum for all Jewish subjects.. starting from reading and writing to niggleh & chassidus.. G-d bless you Zalmi Schneur.. this is no doubt the most important issue facing the frum community, in particular the Lubavitch community. Kol Hakavod!
great as long as its used by individual teachers in a coordinated way throughtout a school
I was waiting for ever so long, for a system like this to surface! A organized system with which teachers can give their students MODERN TOOLS to learning Chumash and Gemarah, instead of going about with the current method which is really just to thrust the Gemarah before the student, and merely translate the words for him, without giving him: A basic explanation of the structure of the Gemara; its grammer laws; its rules and Klalim; and the vast other tools needed to properly learn Gemara. I applaud and commend your beautiful project, and will definitely (Bli Neder) take part… Read more »
