Megillah readings around Los Angeles ended in an ordinary fashion this Purim, but as the community made their way into KYY’s 17th annual extravaganza, something felt out of the ordinary.
The annual Purim extravaganza which takes place on the night of Purim has been a staple among the Anash children of Los Angeles for 17 years.
As attendees entered the event, Super Bot, the man on stilts, and jugglers welcomed in the boys and girls of all ages. The circus stage was set; excitement was in the air, and it was obvious that KYY’s Got Talent was indeed going to be extraordinary.
KYY has always been known to push the limits for their children congregants, and this night would be no different.
After Rabbi Mendel Duchman, Rabbi and founder of the thriving Jr. Congregation, kicked the night off with the annual costume masquerade competition, they got right down to the talent.
Hosted by KYY’s Girls Director Srula Chaiton, and her brother JJ Duchman, the night continued with a high energy, fascinating, line-up of some of the world’s best performers, combined with KYY’s very own talent.
Among the performers were hip-hop interactive dance team The LA Dance team, fire juggler and uni-cyclist Bob’s Flow Circus, America’s Got Talent’s Patrick and Ginger – the world’s most talented dog, KYY’s Drum team, a pianist and contortionist, Rabbi vs. Robot dance-off, Circus Acrobat the Incredible Clark Jacques, and America’s Got Talent magician Naathan Phan.
