You need to go to training away from your family for 10 weeks. You can be deployed for up to a year. Otherwise, it sound like a great opportunity.

Of the amount of time spent on training and deployments depends on the branch and the military needs at the time. But mesiras nefesh is a prerequisite for the Rebbe‘s shlichus.

as an active duty officer you get decent pay as well (touching 6?). plus benefits.
