Cheder at the Ohel is a completely parent run school. The hanhalah, the program director, the liaison to Tzivos Hashem and the base commander, the director of correspondence and advertising are all Cheder parents.
Those involved in researching curriculum, recruiting teachers and new families are all Cheder parents as well. “We give to the school because we love what the school gives to our sons. We also have the benefit of receiving a lot of chassidish nachas, B”H with our sons’ learning, and witness the close relationships they each have with their rebbeim and their classmates,” adds Cheder parent Devorah Rosenzweig.
Cheder at the Ohel is having its first open house on Sunday, January 23rd to welcome new families and to showcase its new facility The Cheder offers small class sizes, advanced learning, a warm sheltered atmosphere and much more. The beautiful building boasts classrooms with magnificant windows and a full size gym, allowing the students to get much needed exercise no matter the weather. It is situated near a park with trails and a playground.
Students enjoy supplemental programing for each yom tov. For example, on Yud Shevat, Mendy Levertov, one of the first talmidim at Cheder at the Ohel, now a Rabbinical Student in Staten Island, came to “give back” to his school by farbrengening with students during lunch. Later in the day, the boys created a picture frame with a photo of the Rebbe placed inside. The Cheder also participates in the Chayolei Tzivos Hashem Program. Students work hard while they enjoy fulfilling the missions each week.
“We have been very pleased with the chassidishe chinuch and atmosphere which our son has experienced,” exclaims Cheder parent Ahron Fishbein.

My children also learn there and the chayus that they have in learning is amazing, they understand the material very well and they look forward to going every day. On Shabbos, they are always reviewing what they studied, and one of my children has the opportunity to teach the Mishnayos that he learned to others in our community. In addition, they have great friends and a warm chassidishe environment..

B”H this school is thriving. My son comes home from Cheder with such excitement. He is truly experiencing top notch learning due to the quality of Rebbeim and small class size. May this school continue to be a source of Chassidishe Nachas to all who send their children here.
