972 students worldwide took the first qualifying test in the international tournament of 613 mitzvos.
After months of learning new material and reviewing it long and hard, students from around the world took the first pre-Chidon test last Wednesday.
The Chidon coordinators WhatsApp group did not stop buzzing all morning as pictures were posted from 38 schools around the world who are participating in the competition.
Results from this test and the second qualifying test scheduled for next week will be combined to determine winners from each school. Chayolim who average a passing grade on both tests are eligible to join the international chidon Shabbaton, taking place in Crown Heights this Sivan.. The top two winners from each grade will compete against finalists of other schools at the game show event, a culmination of the Shabbos activities.
We can only imagine the tremendous smile that would be seen on the Rebbe’s face, as so many of his children, his Chassidim, dedicated many long hours of their free time to master the details of 613 mitzvos.
“There is no need to elaborate on how much it means to the Rebbe that every man, woman, and child study the daily portion of Rambam.” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, vice chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch. “Our goal with this initiative is that every child have a clear understanding of all 613 mitzvos.”
“We are looking forward to welcoming the contestants from around the world, and are planning an incredibly exciting Shabbaton for them here in Crown Heights!” says Rabbi Sholom Ber Baumgarten, chidon coordinator.
May this limmud bring us one-step closer to the coming of Moshiach, the time when we will be able to keep all 613 mitzvos.

He was the one that paid for the chidon sefer Hamitzvos for 15 years. He is the man behind the whole tzivos hashem. Because he never looks for honor he is not recognized for his great accumplishments. But when you are truly humble the honor runs after you. There are many things reb moshe is known for. To many the greatest thing of all is the kinus hashluchim. And what he does for shluchim through the year. But I look at things differently. “I’m ein gediyim ein teyoshim” if there is no young goats there will be no old goats. Building the network of shluchim starts with building tge future shluchim. Please don’t take this the wrong way. I am also one of the hundreds of parents that echo everything being said. My child is lucky enough to have been part of this amazing program. I can’t count the amount of hours he had sat and learned these mitzvos drilling them into his head. He feels like he did well on the first test. But I am worried. Where does the actual chidon take place?
Rabbi yossi Rosenblum from pitasburg who Was the one who started the chidon in the United states. I believe he is still one of the judges.
Worked with a kolel of people to produce the yahadus curriculum. He is a quiet man behind the seance that gets evrything done while other people make a lot of noise and take the credit.

This limmud gives the children so much more yiras shomayim. They learn where and when the mitzva applies to whom it applies what punishment. So many important details about each mitzva
My kids have also spent hours of learning with their freindS. They have been going to each others houses to learn. It’s such a powerful program.
It’s amazing that 80 children Of shluchim who are not in chabad schools in remote towns and vilages are sitting and learning this limmud. If they can anyone can.

So happy they made a girls chidon this year, my girls cant put the books down.
I was very hurt last year, when their was only a chidon for the boys, and posted on COLLIVE my frustration, and i am so happy to post this year how happy i am.
i dont know if my daughter will get in or not, because so many girls in her grade are learning but i am so happy she has learned the information.
My kids want to know if the 2md test is also going to be very hard. They did very well on the test but found it very difficult. not like anything they get in school.

i like the fact that its not all about the top kids! chidon used to be only for the best children in the world, if you had a kid in your class who was smarter then you, you had no chance of winning. Now the chidon is for everyone. If you work hard enough you will make it!
i love that they have included the option of everyone who gets a passing mark is able to join the international Chidon Shabaton. It makes it worth all the work, this way even if my child is not the best in the school he can still join.
As number 2 wrote: “the test was very hard, but the girls did well” why do we need to dumb everything down, our kids are not stupid. when we challenge them they rise to the top and do very well.

Its the most amazing program.
This limmud gives the children such a broad knowledge of all 613 mitzvos. As i sit and review the limmud with my child i am embarrassed how little of it I know. but i am so proud that at least my children will know much more then i was taught in school.

Why do we only find out about the chidon now? my kid would have loved to go for this. He is above the average kid in school and finds school boring this would be an amazing tool for him.
is their a mailing list or an email list that keep parents updated with what going on?
The chidon is the best thing that has happened to our children. The limmud keeps them busy, all their spare time is used for limmud hatorah for months they have been learning,
I have no words to thank the people behind the chidon. My daughter had immersed her self into this limmud. The tests were not easy but because she worked so hard she did very well.
