In the darkest time of the year, we are blessed to be enveloped by the warmth of the Chanukah flames. In fact, the Holy Sages teach us that the light emanating from each of our menoras is the very light from the Or HaGanuz of Creation that Hashem promised to save for the Tzadikim in the World to Come. For 8 days, we are privileged to have a glimpse of this light connecting us to Olam Habah.
Jewish women, in particular, leave their household worries to sit before the Chanukah flames, in honor of our historical sister, Judith, who bravely saved the Jewish people by standing up tothe Greek General. We pause in our busy modern lives, to look back and bond with the common thread of courage and AhavasYisroel of Jewish women throughout history.
Currently, there is an international unity project under way in honor of another brave Jewish woman, Lori Kaye, HYD, of Poway, who stood up to antisemitism and was murdered just 8 months ago. The project – called Lori’s Song – is bringing together Jewish female artists from around the world to sing a stirring spiritual ballad about the loss and legacy of our sister Lori. This unprecedented collaboration led by the Los Angeles Jewish Ladies Chorale (LAJLC) is the first of its kind in the Jewish women’s musical world.
“We were all personally touched by the loss of Lori,” said the chorale’s founder Chaya Rochel Lipsker, “and we continue to feel her presence as she orchestrates this collaboration from the Heavens.”
Just like a flame does not lose its luster when lending its light to another, so too, Lori’s light lives on in our unified effort to uplift her Neshoma and inspire chizuk in all of us. The fact that strangers are coming together in friendship for the Lori Unity project is a reflection of Lori’s light of loving kindness.
The Lori Song was debuted at a special performance in Poway a few months ago (photos below.)

May the light of all our Jewish Martyrs and heroes bring the ultimate redemption with Moshiach B’zman Hazeh.

This sounds so wonderful. What a Zechut to have women join in Achdut for such a special cause. Our nation needs more Unity and support of one another. I look forward to this release.
Finally a unity project by WOMEN singers!! So many by men. This is incredible. Waiting at the edge of my seat! Who is singing????
Surely this unity will bring Moshiach. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so proud to be part of this choir in LA. Giving back to the community through song has been a tremendous blessing in my life. Singing with these ladies is a transcending experience and we always walk out of women’s events inspired by our audience members! Excited to be able to inspire more Jewish women on a global level.
Kan tzivah
I was lucky to meet Lori just one time when visiting a friend at Poway last year and it felt like we’ve been friends forever. She had an infectious love of life and people. I can only imagine how special this song will be. No song can do justice to her magnificent personality and giant heart of gold, however it will be nice to have something tangible to hold onto Lori with. Bless you all.
LAJLC recently sang the Lori Song at a Chabad house event and it moved every single lady present. It was so full of emotion and hope. You can only walk away inspired by the holy Lori, and with so much hope about the imminent redemption. I am very much looking forward to seeing what’s next for the Lori Song. Keep it up LAJLC and all singers invovled!
I never met Lori nor do I know anyone who knows her, yet I feel as if I lost a sister. We are a family and I’m proud to see unity in our family.
May this bring joy and comfort to our entire nation.
I love hearing our ladies sing heartfelt songs. We need more. Keep us updated with more info please
I’ve been watching this on the singers Instagram pages. Truly an incredible group of talented singers uniting for such a great cause. They’ve shared snippets of their work throughout the process and I’ve no doubt this will bring much nachas to Hashem. Talent plus Chesed equals magic!
