At King’s House in Kingston, Jamaica marked Education and Sharing Day 2026, celebrating the upcoming 124th birthday of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the seventh leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement and one of the most influential spiritual leaders of modern times, who championed moral education and acts of goodness for all people on March 29.
During the ceremony, Major Hill read the official proclamation issued by His Excellency, Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General of Jamaica. His Excellency then presented the proclamation to Jamaica’s Rabbi, Rabbi Yaakov Raskin, recognizing the continued work of Chabad of Jamaica in strengthening communities across the island.
In the proclamation, the Governor-General emphasized that true education must go beyond academics — focusing on character, values, and responsibility. He also highlighted and expressed appreciation for the meaningful contributions Chabad of Jamaica has made, including its humanitarian efforts following the hurricane, helping communities across the island in a time of real need.
In a simple but powerful moment, His Excellency placed a contribution into the ARK (Acts of Routine Kindness) charity box — showing that kindness is not just something we speak about, but something we do.
Chabad of Jamaica, on behalf of its donors, also presented a check to support educational initiatives, reinforcing a shared commitment to investing in Jamaica’s future.
Education and Sharing Day is inspired by the Rebbe’s vision — that education is not only about knowledge, but about shaping people who live with kindness, integrity, and purpose.
At the heart of this message are the Seven Noahide Laws — universal moral principles for all humanity, rooted in the story of Noah’s Ark. These values — respect for life, justice, and compassion — form the foundation of a healthy society.
This is the idea behind the ARK (Acts of Routine Kindness) initiative. The small yellow boxes, inspired by Noah’s Ark, serve as a daily reminder that each of us can make a difference through simple acts of giving and care.
Thousands of ARK boxes have already been distributed across Jamaica — in homes, schools, businesses, and hotels — helping turn kindness into a daily habit.
Rabbi Raskin shared:
“We are here in Jamaica because of the Rebbe’s vision — to bring light and kindness to every corner of the world. Jamaica already has that beautiful spirit. This is about strengthening it, one act of kindness at a time.”

Rabbi Raskin, absolute legend!!
