The second night of Chanuka was celebrated in the Australian Island of Tasmania with much fanfare and excitement.
Festivities started with a children’s program at the Chabad House, where the children learned about the miracle of the oil, played fun games, and made a beautiful Menorah out of wood.
The program was run by Shaindel Gordon and Yaffa Travitz, who flew in from Melbourne.
A Menorah lighting was later held in front of Beth Israel, second oldest Shul in Australia with some 130 people in attendance, including Mayor of Launceston Albert Van Zetten and MP Michael Furgerson.
The lighting was aired on the local radio as well as published in the local newspaper. Participants enjoyed doughnuts, live music, and a grand raffle.
