Renowned Kashrus expert Rabbi Yitzchak Hanoka, senior Rabbinic Coordinator at OK Kosher, accompanied Chief Rabbi of Iran Yehuda Gerami to an OK-certified food manufacturing facility for a special tour this week.
Rabbi Gerami is in New York for the Kinus Hashluchim, in a visit coordinated by Merkos 302.
Rabbi Gerami got a first-hand look at the elaborate Kashrus system in place including a thorough review of the paperwork system and an elaborate tour of a high class multiple kosher status Manufacturing facility, as the Rov is developing industrial-level Hechsherim in Iran to help the Jewish community there.
During the visit and during the car ride to the facility in Connecticut the Rov discussed many areas relating to kashrus and asked Rabbi Hanoka key questions that relate to the food industry in particular as it relates to the kashrus status of kosher-sensitive raw materials.
Rabbi Hanoka told the Rov he will be happy to serve as a kashrus resource to assist the Rov in any way he can, a role he already plays for many Shluchim in similar positions around the world.
Rabbi Yosef Dovid Chanowitz, whom Rabbi Hanoka describes as his Talmid Muvhak, serves as the visiting Rabbi to the facility and he provided key kashrus insights on how he preforms his kashrus inspections.
