In the midst of turmoil and darkness, there is a shining light emerging from the heart of the Jewish community. Neshek, a word that means both “weapon” or “gun” in Hebrew and “Neirot Shabbat Kodesh” (Shabbat candles for women to light), has taken on a profound significance. While Chabad has always encouraged the Mitzvah of lighting Shabbat candles, we are now doubling down on this cherished tradition because of the war.
The current war has brought about a new urgency to unite and protect the Jewish people. In Israel, we fight with physical weapons, but we are answering the Rebbe’s call to utilize our “Neshek” – our spiritual light – to bring about a different kind of protection. Our goal is to distribute 200 sets of Neshek to Jewish households across the US.
We’ve already provided $85,000 worth of Neshek, but we need an additional $75,000 to cover the cost of the remaining 200,000 sets. This is not just a campaign for candles; it’s a campaign for unity, hope, and spiritual strength. In times of war, the power of unity and prayer is immeasurable, and this war is not just in Israel; it is a war on the entire Jewish people, transcending borders and uniting Jews worldwide.
In these challenging times, as we confront the harsh realities of war, let us remember the power of the Neshek – not just as a weapon but as a source of light and hope that can carry us through the darkest of nights. We invite you to stand with us in this mission, to help us share the light and protection of Neshek with all those who need it. Together, we can keep the flames of faith burning brightly in our hearts, and we will see a complete victory over our enemies and darkness.
Do something special for the people of Israel, help us increase the light in the world, 200,000 times over!
