Houston Community Steps Up for Their Own

Kesem Mia Hetsrony – Houston Tzivos Hashem Base Commander, shared the following letter with Chidon coordinators. We now share it with you:

Dear Base Commanders,

I want to share with you what has happened here in my community over the past 10 hours.

Baruch Hashem from our small community school in Houston, Texas, 21 Chidon finalists have emerged.

Yet, for many, the cost of Chidon this year seemed unattainable, while fundraising appeared daunting.

I was determined that money should not be a factor for any of my chayolim.

Late last night, I wrote and shared a mazel tov whatsapp message to my community, congratulating our neighborhood for producing 21 Chidon finalists.

I then requested that anyone who is able to should please help to cover costs.

This morning, I was greeted with a whatsapp message from a bubby in the neighborhood who wanted to cover the expenses of chidon for all 21 children!!! An additional donor sent me $500!

All of the parents were thrilled, but what is most amazing is that quite a few refused the help, and are now ready to pay themselves – even those who had previously been concerned about the price!!!

The truth is, parents just want to be supported and thought of. Once they realize that we are here for them, they are empowered to stand on their own two feet and make it happen.

I urge each one of you to do your part in asking your local community to take pride in your Chidon children. People want to give.

People are amazed by these incredible kids. They are amazing and deserve our money and recognition.
