Hi Boys and Girls! Welcome back to “History’s Heroes” Where we learn about our favorite Jewish Heroes and craft, paint, or experiment, along the way!
Highlight: Pinchas
Pinchas is connected to the Geulah. According to one explanation (Targum Yonasan Va’eira 6:18), Pinchas is the same person as Eliyahu Hanavi, who will announce the coming of the Geulah. When Pinchas stood up for Hashem during the story of Zimri, Hashem gave him a special reward. He made a promise to Pinchas called “Es Brisi Shalom,” which meant that Pinchas would always be part of every Jewish child’s special ceremony when they are born. Because of his great love for the Jewish people, Pinchas will be the one to announce the Geulah after seeing all the good things that the Jewish people do.
To understand Pinchas’ bravery, think about someone jumping out of a plane with a parachute. When they jump, it might look scary, but the parachute helps them fall safely. The parachute slows them down, so they don’t hit the ground too fast. This week, we are going to try out our own parachutes! We will make a little person and drop them from the stairs, just like jumping from a plane. When you drop something, gravity pulls it down, but the parachute slows it down because it catches the air. The bigger the parachute, the slower it falls, which is why parachutes help people land safely.
Please join our contest, where we raffle off 2 Tickets to the Jewish Children’s Museum, when a completed project (picture or video) is sent to [email protected] . Hatzlacha J
