Chabad of Austin is in the final hours of a matching campaign to raise funds for a new building for their activities.
Chabad of Austin’s activities have been expanding, and they need more space, a permanent space, to grow.
For decades, Chabad of Austin, led by Rabbi Yosef and Rochel Levertov, has been a legendary center for shlichus. Today, there are hundreds of alumni of the Levertov’s around the world who been inspired to build beautiful frum and Chassidishe families of their own.
Take a deeper look at the people around you, and you may be surprised at how many people in your life are individuals who have been inspired by Chabad of Austin. He might be your son’s Rosh Yeshiva, she may be you or your daughter’s friend; he’s your lawyer, or maybe he’s the sofer who wrote your mezuzos; she may have inspired your daughter about Shlichus while in seminary in Australia.
In an era when the world of shlichus was much smaller than it is today, hundreds of bochurim received their first taste of out of town shlichus working with students at the University of Texas. Dozens of girls dedicated their year to teaching at the school and partnering in the shlichus, and many have kept in contact years later, after opening a Chabad House of their own.
Now, Chabad of Austin is working to purchase a new Chabad Center for the school and the work with the Austin community, to bring Yiddishkeit further and further. On Sunday September 16-17, a diverse group of alumni, community members, and generous philanthropists have come together to triple every dollar donated, for a goal of $400,000. Go to BuildChabad.com to partner with Chabad. Become a founder of the new center of Judaism in Austin and claim the merit of many more inspirations.
