At Chabad Girls Academy, hands-on learning is a core part of our mission, and whenever possible, we extend learning beyond the classroom through meaningful educational experiences.
In the days leading up to Hei Teves, the students learned about the significance of the day with their Kodesh teachers, and then brought that learning to life through a full-day, hands-on trip in honor of Hei Teves.
The first stop was Kehos, where the girls took part in the Hei Teves custom of selecting and purchasing sefarim, an experience that allowed them to actively participate in a minhag they had been learning about in class. They explored the variety of books available and discussed which ones they were excited to bring back to school.
Later, the students toured the Rebbe’s library in 770. They had an up-close look at the items and sefarim that are part of Chabad history and were encouraged to ask questions about the displays, helping them better understand the Rebbe’s life, work, and other historic items.
When asked about their experience visiting the library, the girls shared their impressions. Chaya Mushka said, “It was really beautiful. I especially loved seeing pieces of the Rebbe’s outfit—it showed his sense of style, formal yet simple, and how something simple can still be beautiful.” Sima added, “I really liked seeing the Frierdiker Rebbe’s hat. It looked very old-fashioned but was cool.”
The day concluded with Mincha in 770, giving the girls the opportunity to daven in the Rebbe’s shul where so many farbrengens and Chassidus were taught by the Rebbe. This trip was a simple yet meaningful way to end the day, leaving the students with both knowledge and lasting memories of an experience that brought their learning to life.
