Hatzalah Member Sounds Off About Crowded Dancing on Kingston

Veteran Hatzalah member Rabbi Moshe Klein says the independently organized Simcha Beis Hashoeva dancing on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights "borders on an actual murder." He alerts that a bochur served as chazzan in a local shul while waiting for Covid results which he tested positive for. Full Story, Audio

This is as central as could be , being controversial, a question to discuss with a mashpia. Dancing bachurim are generally a mashpia- less mob imagining they have some connection to the Rebbe.

Well spoken!

If you are vulnerable, don’t go. But for all the other teens who have already been together in camp, and for those of us who have had the virus already, it’s a personal decision and risk is extremely low. Risks of bochurim sitting at home all chol hamoed on tech gadgets is more dangerous at this point. The beautiful atmosphere on Kingston for those who are not sick or vulnerable is irreplaceable. If you are at risk, don’t go.
The bochur who was sick and still was a Chazan is wrong. Don’t mix the two.

People stop caring about others and don’t listen to Rabonim & Doctors!
Yes it’s dangerous, if you don’t have kids that need to go to kindergarten or to the school, pregnant wife or elderly parents- pls isolate yourself for 14 days after last days of Sukos – respect our community!!!Why we need to suffer? Enough is enough!

The more virus going around the community, the more risks to everybody, vulnerable or not. The reality is that there’s no such thing as 100% protection or 100% isolation. People can and should do their utmost to protect themselves, but that only goes so far. By disregarding medical guidelines, you’re not only endangering yourself, but everyone else in this community. Please have some Rachmanus for those that are not as strong as you.

hopefully you dont have the virus on you when you go visit your elder relatives. the virus can live on your clothes for couple of hours and you may touch things or there are other ways that you can transfer the virus even if you were infected already. dont think that because you had it already there is nothing to worry about. there are people in our community who are sick now, they can not confirm if its a 2nd time getting it, but the people had the same symptoms the first time around. please just wear the mask when… Read more »

Dangerous dancing

October 8, 2020 8:59 pm

The problem is that there could be people dancing there who convey the virus to others, who in turn go home to elderly or otherwise vulnerable people who thereby contract the virus. There are also those in the crowd who aren’t “vulnerable” who nevertheless are severely stricken with the virus. Even if that is just one person, that’s a tragedy.

And the pictures broadcast throughout the world of people dancing in the street, defying state regulations and CDC and doctors’ recommendations, are a chilul HaShem and a Chilul Lubavicth.

Really?

Thank you rabbi Klein for speaking up. I saw a video on Col of what’s going on Kingston now and I’m in utter shock. I don’t know how the Rabonim or police aren’t stopping it. A chutzpah. People think crown heights is a free for all and people can do what they want. It’s a huge danger and a chillul Lubavitch. I’m embarrassed to see this. And Nechama when something like this is going on it’s a Sacono and the rules are for everyone.

What you are failing to see is that Bochurim is getting other people sick and could kill that person. Sheesh…still at this point you don’t understand how the virus works. These guys are going to families houses to eat and bringing in the virus. Jews are not just dying their quality of life will be effected for months maybe more from this virus, even the healthy. Please be smarter…we are suppose to be a light unto the nations and this behavior is not showing that.

October 8, 2020 8:07 pm

Still haven’t heard a valid explanation as to why this is dangerous? (I agree it’s a Chillul Hashem)
Camps were open, schools were open, these are young people, obviously the elder and vulnerable will not and should not go. How on Earth is this different to anything that has been occuring in our neighborhood?!
And yes, the bochur who was sick is a totally separate thing

#2 50% of doctors says masks don’t help. And 100% of doctors will say masks don’t help the way masks are worn with all sides not being sealed. So if he wants to walk into 770 and thinks masks help let him where a mask.. For sure a mask only protects the person wearing it.. Not the others. So he can where a mask, the same way I do. I wear it more for show… So it looks like we are following the rules which are put into place by the dictator government

The main purpose of the masks is to protect those around you. It catches the droplets you exhale so that they are not dispersed into the air and the person next to you does not inhale them. It also helps protect the individual with the mask, but to a lesser degree.

On other peoples expense
A bochurs chassidishe hargashos should NOT endanger someone else.
People are so self centered and self richeous and arrogant.
NO BOCHUR KNOWS BETTER THAN THE RABBONIM AND DOCTORS.
THE REBBE WOULD NOT APPRECIATE THIS FALSE SENSE OF HISKASHRUS, where bochrim claim to be above the letter of the law.
The Rebbe always stood behind following rabonim and doctors.
Not hefkeirus.
It is apalling.

Sensationalism

By blatantly targeting Jews – the government has turned this into an anti Semitic issue. Health has nothing to do with it at this point. Two separate issues and should be treated as such.
There is no excuse for Deblasio and Coumo’s actions, and we should not be condoning or excusing them in any way.

And please, I have relatives who are active member in hatzolah and completely disagree with the above sentiments. Stop dragging hatzolah and the Rebbe into all this to ‘kasher’ it.

B”H we are not like in March, but I personally know two people on ventilators, one a young mother and another middle aged man. Contrary to what one person is advertising there are AT LEAST 8 patients as of last week with Covid in Maimonides. If we can avoid spreading this to even one person, its like saving a world; every life is precious. So lets just do the basics, wear a mask, stay away from crowds and wash your hands. Simple.

Or anyone you know first hand who suffered complications from the medicine with the dosage he recommends?

some food for thought

We all know the story of Rabbi Akiva and his students, who passed away between Pesach and Lag Baomer due to not having respect for each other. How did they disrespect each other? When one of them got sick, he didn’t stay home and instead went and got his friend sick, until they all passed away.

In this trying time, the story of Rabbi Akiva and his students teaches us a powerful lesson of what not to do

Are you ok with masks and social distancing forever? Viruses don’t go away. There will always be someone carrying the virus, vaccine or not. Put your pizza down, cut back on the cholent, and live a healthy lifestyle. Maybe rabbonim should enact mandatory exercise instead of masks? That’s what frum communities need.
