Hundreds of students, alumni, parents, and community members gathered from around the country to celebrate the grand opening of the Schottenstein Chabad Student Center at The Ohio State University, marking a historic moment for Jewish life on campus.
The new 22,000-square-foot facility stands as a beacon of light for Jewish students at one of the largest universities in America, creating a vibrant home for learning, community, and connection.
Andrew Ginther, mayor of Columbus, welcomed attendees with remarks highlighting the importance of a strong and visible Jewish presence in the city, followed by a rousing keynote address from Gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who inspired students with a message of confidence, leadership, and pride in identity.
Shlucha Sarah Deitsch reflected on the remarkable growth of Chabad since 1994, emphasizing that the vision of the Rebbe is more alive than ever. After 29 years of shlichus, the new building stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the shluchim, Rabbi Zalman Deitsch and Sarah Deitsch, together with Rabbi Levi Andrusier and Aviva Andrusier, whose leadership has helped build a thriving and enduring Jewish presence on campus.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Rabbi Levi Andrusier and Jonathan Schottenstein, grandson of Jerome and Geraldine Schottenstein, after whom the building is named, officially opening the doors to a space that will nurture Jewish life and community for generations of students to come.
