The 13th Annual Winter Retreat will be held from Dec. 24-26 in Albany NY, and will offer girls ages 8-18 the opportunity to grow as leaders, and discover their unique voices.
The Winter Retreat that is instructional and fun will feature: snow sports, and swimming, creative clubs featuring workshops with artist Ahuvah Coates, concert and choir performance with singer Chaviva Tarlow, a talent show and dance night, writing workshops with Susan Axelrod, grow workshops with Nechama Laber, and many more unique programs and activities.
Leah [Larson] Caras, founder of Yaldah Magazine and graphic designer for Jewish Girls Unite will share her story, and how she founded the popular and beloved YALDAH magazine, at only 12 years old.
Meet 15 year old Tzipporah Prottas, our new magazine coordinator from CT., who is enthusiastic to help create the new JGU Magazine.
Quoting Tzipporah: I believe it is vital to involve every Jewish girl possible on this remarkable project, for each girl has a unique voice to contribute, creativity and soul-powers to channel in her one-of-a-kind way. As colorful and varying we may appear to be on the outside, we are indeed all invaluable parts of the same body, and Hashem is at the heart of all our endeavors. At the Winter Retreat, we come together to discover our true selves, and we are empowered to light up the world through using our talents and technology for the good.”
Girls will also have a chance to join the team, creating the new JGU Magazine to be published [G-d willing] in February, consisting of writers, photographers, artists, singers, and many other talented young women and girls. “Throughout the Retreat experience and journey, girls will learn from incredible and dedicated staff and mentors to discover their unique voices, lead with confidence, and be a part of an amazing team of girls who are lighting up the world.”, says Nechama Laber, JGU Global Director and Retreat Founder.
