Just in time for the Kinus Hashluchos, the Jewish Girls Retreat has released the trailer for “A Flame to Follow,” the movie produced at the 2014 Summer Retreat.
This year we chose to create a film expressing the power of Shabbos candles in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Candle Lighting Campaign that was launched by the Lubavitcher Rebbe to bring more light into the darkness.
The movie is a suspenseful story about a family whose daughters have to adjust to a new town, a new school and new friends. When tragedy strikes the city, one of the daughters is lost and separated from her family. Through the power of lighting Shabbos candles, she finds her way home again.
Jewish Girls Retreat is a summer and winter overnight camp for girls of all backgrounds. “At JGR, every girl is given the confidence to shine their own inner light to the world,” said Nechama Laber, Founder and Director.
Each summer, JGR campers star in a professional film and tell a story through drama, song and dance. “JGR is a place where girls are celebrated for who they are and for what their talents are, and it’s incredible to see what they can produce in just a few weeks. After gaining so much from my years as a camper, I’m lucky to be able to give some of that back,” said Chavie Resnick.
The script for “A Flame to Follow” was written and directed by Chavie Resnick and Saralaya Rockford and produced by Sparks Next with Danny Finkelman and his crew.
DVD’s will be sold at the Kinus Resource Fair this Sunday, and are available to order at www.jewishgirlsretreat.com.
