A new Torah was welcomed at Chabad of Bellevue, Washington on Thursday, dedicated by the Farkash family.
The Torah was sponsored by New York businessman Dudi and Chanie Farkash, in honor of their 20th wedding anniversary, and Dudi’s 40th birthday.
The Torah was written in memory of Farkash’s grandfather, Rabbi Aharon Gershon Farkash OBM, who passed away 2 years ago.
Over 200 people from the local community came out to celebrate the completion of the Torah, written by sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein of Crown Heights who flew to Bellevue especially for the event.
The Torah was led in the streets of Bellevue to the East Side Torah Center, directed by Shluchim Mordechai and Rochel Farkash, with joyous singing and dancing.
“The Torah dedication is a fitting honor for my grandfather,” said Dudi Farkash. “He truly exemplified Torah and Mitzvos. He never stopped learning Torah a day in his life,” he said.
