Eric Adams, who has enjoyed overwhelming support in Crown Heights, has kept his lead in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary according to the final tally of the Board of Elections.
The Brooklyn Borough President had a narrow lead over Kathryn Garcia, 50.5 percent to 49.5 percent, according to unofficial figures posted on the board’s website.
The 403,333 votes for Adams gave him an edge of 8,426 over Garcia, who got 394,907, the New York Post reported. The margin is less than the 14,755-vote spread Adams enjoyed after last week’s count — but it appears to be enough to ensure his victory, the Post said.
Adams, who began his political career as a State Senator representing Crown Heights, seemed eager to move on to focus on the general election where he will face the Republican candidate and crime fighter Curtis Sliwa on November 2.
“While there are still some very small amounts of votes to be counted, the results are clear: an historic, diverse, five-borough coalition led by working-class New Yorkers has led us to victory in the Democratic primary for Mayor of New York City,” he stated.
“We must focus on winning in November so that we can deliver on the promise of this great city for those who are struggling, who are underserved, and who are committed to a safe, fair, affordable future for all New Yorkers,” he added.
Both Adams and Garcia’s high numbers have shown Democratic voters to prefer moderate and pragmatic candidates over the progressive and left-leaning ones. New York’s Democrats outnumber Republicans about 7-to-1, the Post pointed out.
Adams spoke on the phone with Chanina Sperlin, the longtime Jewish community activist and a close supporter on Tuesday evening. “He told me about the result and I asked him if I can give him a Mazal Tov,” Seprlin told COLlive.com.
“Eric told me, ‘Yeah, you give me a Mazal Tov!'”

From all of your many loyal Crown Heights friends. BH the “Best Man” actually did win – Sending Brochas that you should go from Strength to Strength and pull this wonderful city back from the brink of destruction and begin to make and spread more light as the Rebbe always advised.
Mazel Tov also to all of the dedicated Crown Heights activists who were united in their goal and worked so hard for this day !
I agree. In a year that was racked with the Israel-Gaza war, with tensions spilling over into the United States, it’s good to just see that American Jews are just as beloved, defended, and embraced as much as ever.
Now is the time to continue with all of the positive energy and put together a massive Voter Registration Drive – that means tables out on Kingston and in the shuls, and in the lobbies of apartment houses, at our local day camps to register the counselors, take a car up to Parksville, Camp Emunah, and all of the bungalow colonies with Crown Heights residents. Then, when all of the counselors come home from all over the world in Elul, register them too – especially the ones who will be learning or working/on shlichus out-of-town – that is a LOT… Read more »
Thanks to everyone that put in all the hard work to make this happen
A very good man & true friend of the Community
Showed his support for israel without backing down or “clarifying” even though it would cost him votes from some muslims and other pro palistinean voters
Does he realize that the Jewish vote tipped the scale in his favor ?
If this is true, then yes, they absolutely know. And so do our enemies.
Reportedly, we got out about 3000 votes, roughly 3X what we put out normally.
We have the numbers to put out 2 to 3x more than that. We need to continue the registration drives.
I’m still waiting for the leaders who got out the vote this time (it was little and late but not too much so) to start the next phase of this.
The jewish vote for yang probably had adams as #2 instead of Garcia
If the frum didnt support Yang as #1 then Adams would be up 28,000 votes instead of 8,000 so Kalman Yeger did us a HUGE disservice.
For making this happen
BH We were saved …. All other Democrat candidates were straight up frightening & awful – Terrific news about Crystal’s victory too !
He already had a proven track record as our former Senator!
So even though Curtis Sliwa is on excellent terms with the CH Jewish community, barring some unforeseen circumstance, Eric Adams will most likely win this race. That being the case, I hope we don’t, at some point, experience a repeat of the famous joke about the Rabbi who heard out 2 parties pitted against each other and told each party in turn “You’re right.” When his Rebbetzin asked him how he could hand down such a “decision” he told her “You’re right too.” Adams will need to be unequivocal about decisions that will need to made. Unfortunately, this is not… Read more »
