A central festive farbrengen took place Wednesday evening in Alma Ata, Kazakhstan, the conclusion to a series of events in the city to mark the 75th yartzeit of the saintly Mekubal, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe’s father.
Hundreds of Rabbonim, Shluchim, mashpiim, and Jews from around the world, who had traveled to the gravesite to mark the Yartzeit, gathered at a beautiful event hall in Alma Ata for the gala event.
The Farbrengen was MC’d by the Shliach in Turkey, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Chitrik. Inspiring speeches were given throughout the evening by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Lipsker, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Wolfson, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Schapiro, and Rabbi Chaim Shaulson.
The sponsoring hosts, R’ Avi Shaulson and Shmuel Stern, whose generosity made it possible for hundreds of guests to participate in the 2-day visit with beautiful accommodations, spoke as well.
Throughout the evening, special videos prepared by JEM were screened, including a rare video of the Rebbe speaking about his father.
Entertainment was provided by the Malchus Choir, who performed special moving Chabad niggunim.
At the end of the formal event, Rabbonim and Mashpiim farbrenged with participants until the wee hours of the morning.
The event was produced by Fleishman Event Productions.
