someone whose mind creates a life that feels not worth living. saving her from herself is a well-meaning thing to do, but her painful life continues. the saviors feel good, but she doesn’t.

It is sad what you wrote, but shouldn’t be the case. When a person sees that their life is of value for no other reason except that she is a creation of G-d, that may inspire her to go on and have a meaningful life. It’s happened again and again to attempted suicide cases. May we all live HAPPILY and blessed

People who suffer from mental illness may suffer more than many who suffer from other illnesses.
In either case we can not ‘end their suffering’and have to do whatever we can to cure them or to at least alleviate their pain.
Under psychiatric care she will probably not be suicidal.
Why people suffer is a question mankind has groped with for centuries…

    Very inspiring!

I once heard a story can someone confirm?

R’ Yisroel Shemtov once saved a goy from jumping off a bridge. when he was interviewed he was asked a question “you are jewish- how do you feel about saving the life of a non jew?” He responded “by us jews we don’t differentiate between a jew and lehavdil a goy!” ; )

Kol hakavod to Chani and the other rescuers. Bridges should have safety measures installed to make these incidents less possible. People trying to jump bridges also endanger those who may be caught in traffic, such as ambulances while the rescue takes place.

    very cute story

    they actually do.

such as the bridge in san fra. And technically if someone Gd forbid wants to end it all they will find a way. We got to boost their self esteem so they dont even think of it

"The day hate died" - because of Y. Shemtov

A while after the Crown Heights pogrom, an African woman was shot in the head. Yisroel Shemtov determined that there was no time to wait for an ambulance, so he drove her in his own car to the hospital. After this, the NY Post had the headline,”The day hate died.” Even Sharpton admitted he was a hero.

    Jewish Psychology is called for

Read “The Psychology of Tzimtzum” by professor Mordechai Rotenberg of Hebrew University. (www.korenpub.com). Mental health professionals in America should be learning and promoting principles of Jewish psychology. It would create sweeping changes.
