Last week, the Daniella Moffson Friendship Circle Online celebrated its 5th birthday.
Do you remember where you were when Covid began? Think back to just over five years ago. Where were you?
Five years ago, Friendship Circle saw a need and stepped in to fill it. As the world went into isolation and Covid spread, when so many of us didn’t know what to do, Friendship Circle Online was formed to ensure that no one was left without community, connection, or friendship.
Something we’ve learned along the way is that the problem Covid created for many of us was a problem that families of individuals with special needs have grappled with long before COVID, and will continue to grapple with unless we step up: isolation.
Isolation is scary, lonely, and dangerous.
Friendship is vital, essential, and life-saving.
And that’s why FCO is here, five years later, providing up to 20 hours of consistent weekly programming, completely virtual, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
With davening programs, art, yoga, and social experiences, there truly is something for everyone.
And the impact has been undeniable.
When a participant shares that the highlight of their week is spending time with friends on Zoom. When a parent says she has never heard her daughter call anyone her “friend” until joining FCO.
When our members run into each other at a wedding out of town and can’t contain their joy, that’s why we do this.
Every individual deserves a place to belong and people to call their friends. Every individual deserves to be seen for who they truly are.
If you can’t find a Friendship Circle near you, our Friendship Circle will find you, wherever you are.
Last week, we came together to celebrate five impactful years of the Daniella Moffson Friendship Circle Online. We reunited with friends from our earliest COVID days through today, sang our hearts out, painted our own cookies, watched The Story of FCO documentary, and heard from so many voices who have been part of this journey.
If you know someone who would love to join our circle, we’d love to hear from you. Interested in meaningful virtual volunteer opportunities? Reach out.
These individuals are incredibly lucky to have a program led by such a caring and devoted leader. Thank you Batya
