Ben Ish Winery, a boutique Jewish owned winery that is one of only four wineries located in Brooklyn, NY, is offering free wine for the upcoming joyous holiday of Simchas Torah.
Its owner and winemaker Chaim Rosenberg says he will be giving 2 bottles of his 2015 Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon to every shul in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
The very young and fruity unfiltered wine was produced here in Brooklyn, NY from grapes grown in Curico, Chile, and is being made available for use at the Simchas Torah celebrations.
Rosenberg told COLlive.com he wasn’t looking for sales. “I just would like to donate for those Anash that are unable to make kiddush on vodka as an alternative,” he says.
Ben Ish Winery was founded in memory of Rosenberg’s uncle, Barry (Ben Ish) Fried, a connoisseur of wine and spirits. The wines are strictly kosher under the supervision of the OK.
He notes that the wine he will be distributing is “the only 2015 Cabernet on the market,” has 12% alcohol and won a bronze medal at the New York State Fair Commercial Wine competition.
Rosenberg will be working off the listing of shuls from the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, which amounts to 48. Interested shuls should have the gabbai or one in charge email [email protected] (by Motzoei Shabbos Chol Hamoed to receive it the next day, Hoshana Rabba in time for Yom Tov).
