Yeshiva Centre – Chabad Headquarters of NSW, Australia recently hosted a one week Gan Israel winter boys day camp.
50 boys attended the camp, between the ages of 5 to 13, and a separate girls day camp was held at another location with 40 participants.
During the week-long camp the children were taught that yiddishkeit can be fun. In addition to exciting learning classes the boys also learned through play such as making tzedaka pushkas in arts and crafts, and learned teamwork in laser shooting, bowling, basketball and other outdoor games and activities.
One parent remarked that his child had learned more in this one week at camp than what he learned in many weeks at school.
The camp was organized by the hard-working Talmidim Hashluchim – Rabbinical students of the Sydney Yeshiva Gedola. The head counselor was Shmuel Davidoff, and the camp director was Rabbi Elimelech Levy who is also the director of outreach for the Yeshiva Centre.
