Shabbos Night Live, the weekly inspirational class aired every Motzoei Shabbos on COLlive.com and COL.org.il, will feature a special program to mark its 5th anniversary.
Established on 25 Teves 5778, the class became a tradition for Lubavitchers and non-Lubavitch Jews around the world who tune in right after Shabbos to start the new week on a positive note.
Presenting it in English and Hebrew is Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Executive Director of the Central Lubavitch Youth Organization (Tzach Hamerkazis) and a long-time columnist and radio broadcaster.
The web class which includes Torah thought, chassidic stories and timely inspiration is regularly filmed on Thursday night in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights and is posted on both popular Chabad news outlets.
It has gained an avid following –among them chassidim, bochurim and even known rabbonim– with many eager to hear unknown and many times, never-before-told stories about the Rebbe.
Time and research is put in regularly to verify the miraculous stories and be as accurate as possible in telling them over on the show. Contributors have been the likes of the Rebbe’s mazkir Rabbi Leibel Groner and Jewish music star Avrohom Fried.
Some of the memorable recent shiurim included stories about a 50 year-old woman bearing children, a dream that reunited a divorced couple, how the Rebbe solved the dilemma of Palm Springs Shliach Yonason Denebeim and a reference to Gilad Shalit in the parsha.

Rabbi Butman, a descendant of the Alter Rebbe, was in the Ukrainian city of Haditch this week to daven at the holy gravesite of Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of Chabad-Lubavitch chassidism and author of the Tanya and Shulchan Aruch.
While in Haditch, he used the opportunity to film his upcoming program in the shul adjacent to the tziyun, as it will be aired this Motzoei Shabbos, 24 Teves, the 200th yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe.
Rabbi Butman was greeted by the new Shliach in Haditch, Mendel Teichman. Filming the special program was Shlomo Chaim Rivkin. A special thanks to Yan Vainblat of D-vision AV for filming and editing the weekly program.
