Hagai Angrest, father of Matan Angrest, who has been held captive in Gaza for nearly two years, prayed at the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens today, accompanied by Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of Chabad Headquarters.
Matan Angrest, 21, an IDF soldier, was kidnapped from a tank by Hamas on October 7, 2023, and is reported to be seriously injured.
Earlier today, Hamas’s armed wing called on the Israeli military to temporarily halt airstrikes and withdraw from parts of Gaza City to allow efforts to locate two Israeli hostages, Matan Angrest and Omri Miran, who went missing during recent intense operations in Gaza. The group warned that the hostages’ lives are in serious danger and demanded a 24-hour pause in aerial operations in certain neighborhoods.
Israel says 48 hostages are still held in Gaza, with around 20 believed to be alive.
