Tens of thousands attended the funeral for IDF soldier Hadar Goldin HY”D on Tuesday at the Kfar Saba military cemetery in Israel. Goldin was killed in Gaza in the 2014 war and held there until this week.
His abduction, along with that of Staff Sgt. Oron Shaul HY”D, became a national symbol of Israel’s commitment to “never leave a soldier behind.”
The Goldin family has fought tirelessly for over a decade to bring their son home, meeting with world leaders and urging the government to condition any aid to Gaza on the return of Israeli captives and remains.
At the funeral, Hadar’s twin brother Tzur credited the country as a whole for his brother’s return.
“Our victory in this war is that we all, all of Israel, are here for each other,” he said. “We don’t give up on one another. No one is left behind.”
He added, “Rest in peace. Your story isn’t over; an entire nation brought you home.”’
