Two children, descendants of Maran the Beit Yosef, are in danger of being lost to the Jewish nation.
On Rosh Hashana we say, “Who will live and who will die.” In this case, it is a spiritual death: who will remain a Jew and who, G-d forbid, will grow up as a gentile?! May HaShem save us!
No Jewish heart can ignore the call of these children. No one can close their eyes to their tragic plight!
The Rebbe would fight to preserve every Jewish neshama because every child is an entire world. How can we desert these children and stand idly by as they are lost to our nation, G-d forbid?
Dear Jews! On the eve of Rosh Hashana, it is impossible to remain complacent, to close our ears to the desperate cries of the poor boy and girl as they scream out to us: SAVE US FROM CAPTIVITY! We do not want to grow up in a Christian home in New Zealand. Help us win the difficult legal battle so we can return to Israel and grow up with our mother as observant Jews.
Miriam Hefetz, a direct descendant of Maran Beit Yosef on her mother’s side – her maiden name was Caro – was a hapless, confused, and bewildered young woman when she became involved with a gentile in New Zealand. Together they had two children, a boy, and a girl.
Over the years, she repented and began to raise her children as Jews, observing kashrus and other mitzvahs as best as she could. But the gentile father, a dangerous and violent man, opposed her, stood in her way, and did everything he could to stop her, forcibly feeding the children treif and dragging them to church despite their pleas to let them be Jewish.
Miriam had no choice but to flee with the children to Eretz Israel.
Unfortunately, disregarding the father’s violent and vicious behavior, the Israeli court ordered the mother to take the children back to New Zealand to be near the father.
At this time, a difficult legal battle is raging in the courts to determine custody of the children. The outcome will determine their education, whether they will be brought up as Jews or, chas v’chalila, as gentiles!!!
This is a war to save souls who, G-d forbid, may be cut off from the Jewish people! We carry the responsibility to save these children and the children’s children for all generations to come!
The legal struggle and the mother’s representation before all of the government offices in New Zealand and Israel amounts to a tremendous fortune, yet we are determined to succeed! We are determined to bring these children back to the Land of Israel to grow up as observant Jews.
Please, dear friends! At this holiest time of the year, you can help us save these children!
As you stand before HaShem on the Day of Judgement and ask to be inscribed for a good life, ask HaShem to accept your prayers, ask HaShem to have mercy on you and your children as you had mercy on the two poor children being held in New Zealand, to be brought up as gentiles against their will.
HaShem repays kindness with kindness and mercy with mercy. Let the merit of these two children accompany your prayers on Rosh Hashana, on the Day of Judgement, and you will surely be answered as you answered this call to Save the Children!
