Lamplighters Yeshivah of Crown Heights is hosting the fourth annual “In The Glow,” a vendor fair and concert, with close to 40 local vendors, a curated art show, and a full-length concert to showcase the talent and diversity of Jewish women in the community.
Last year, the event hosted over 400 women who enjoyed shopping, socializing and entertainment into the night. Due to its success, this year is expected to be even bigger and better- with a new twist. The vendor fair, with shopping, gourmet snacks and a photo booth, will be in one large, festive space.
Many popular as well as undiscovered vendors will exhibit their art, sell discounted designer and vintage clothes, and educate about their healing and professional services. Business owners and creatives will be selling unique gifts, including hand-made jewelry, vintage and designer clothing and accessories, quality skin-care, art prints and more.
In another space will be an art show curated by accomplished artists Raiza Malka Hartz and Rivka Nehorai of Amalia, a new organization, headed by Nehorai, that supports Jewish mother artists by funding babysitting time so busy artist Moms can nurture their creativity and work on their art. The gallery presentation at In the Glow will showcase paintings, photographs and video art on the topic “To Light A Spark.”
While you sample ‘In The Glow’ merchant gourmet snacks, plan to sit back and enjoy the best of Brooklyn’s local Jewish talents during our concert section of the night. First, there will an interactive, performance art piece called ‘The Artist as Athlete’ showcasing competitive, quick drawing from some of the Jewish art world’s most acclaimed female artists: Natalia Kadish, Shoshannah Brombacher, and Leah Raab.
Then, be prepared for a dynamic line-up of musical talent including full length sets from seasoned performers Esther Freeman, playing classics and all-new music and accompanied by Rivka Nahari’s dance troupe, and the soulful, nationally-recognized Bulletproof Stockings.
There will also be some great guest appearances by composer and pianist Sarah Dukes, opera singer extraordinaire Chava Shapiro, and dancer Shira Nessenof!
For the second year, the event will be MC’ed by Elana Greenspan (www.elanagreenspan.com), comedienne, singer, songwriter, and sought-after MC.
Attendees can also enjoy a door prize, raffle drawings throughout the night, mini-yoga classes, a photo booth, hot-chocolate bar, home-baked desserts and delicious gourmet snacks.
The event benefits Lamplighters Yeshivah, the first and only Chassidic Montessori school in Crown Heights, which was started five years ago by a small group of parents and has since grown into an established school with over 90 students, Jewish-Montessori trained teaching staff and two highly regarded, experienced school heads.
