The excitement is mounting with only two weeks left in the MyLife: Chassidus Applied Essay Contest as MLC announced the list of prestigious judges for this year’s contest.
The contest has become a powerful incentive for inspiring and empowering people across the globe to write essays applying ideas in Chassidus to solve contemporary life issues. The new student track has been a particularly big draw this year with many high schools, yeshivas, and seminaries using the contest as an educational opportunity. Bnos Chomesh Academy in Brooklyn, NY has even made the contest a requirement for the senior class. Mrs. Gorkin stated, “We made it a requirement for our senior class this year, replacing the usual term paper. I’m looking forward to seeing what our students come up with since this is an exceptional opportunity for them to apply everything they have learned and potentially be awarded and recognized for it. They dared me to submit an entry as well — we’ll see!”
Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Dean of the Meaningful Life Center (MLC) and conceiver of this unique project, comments, “It’s inspiring to see so many entries from the younger generation. These bright young men and women represent the future pioneering leaders and innovators of Lubavitch and the Jewish world. The more they are empowered to apply Chassidus to life, the more they will empower others. In that sense, all the entrants are winners.”
As in the past three seasons, the panel of judges of this contest comprises some of this generation’s most distinguished Torah and Chassidus scholars. These experts will be tasked to blindly evaluate and select the winning essays, awarding $10,000 to the first place winner, $3,600 to the second place winner, $1,000 to the third place winner, and an additional $500 to the best essay submitted by students aged 14-21.

This contest is a great idea!
But it should not only be limited to essays.
The Rebbe always used to say hamaaseh hu haikar.
Much more than ideas this world needs action and solutions.
I highly suggest to immediately start a school project
Where students actually work with their parents and communities to actually solve real world problems!
Wow!! So happy he’s a judge! An amazing man kol hakovod
Because of the timing of the contest. None of the women contacted were able to spend hundreds of hours reading contests the month before Pesach.
There are many eminently qualified women who could be judges. Were any women even asked ? Perhaps they refused ?
Once again, no woman judgeS
Why are all the judges men? Why no women?
