This past Motzoei Shabbos, volunteer members of Hatzalah medical emergency service in the Kfar Chabad village in Israel met for training.
It was their regular training in CPR which was meant to end with a friendly Farbrengen, reminding them about the duties of a Chossid in addition to their volunteering.
Halfway thorough the course, led by R’ Pinchos Trebnick, a call came in that “a crash just occured at the entrance of the village.”
The Hatzalah members dropped the CPR doll which they had been using for practice, and drove to the scene of the crash where 2 vehicles had collided.
“We gave 4 victims first aid and they were taken to the Asaf Harofeh hospital. One of the women was in critical condition, the other moderate and the third sunstained light injuries,” they told COL.
One of the members added, “the incident served as a clear reminder of the importance of our training and work.”
they must be in a hury look at the hat and jacket tossed on the floor
This is a bit like suggesting that a Cohen should never say l’chaim because Moshiach could come at any moment, rebuild the Bais Hamikdosh, and then he would not be able to do avoda.
Hatzala members should be allowed to drink responsibly i.e. keep themselves under legal drinking limits so that they can drive to respond to a call for help. Besides, there is no one actually drinking in the picture so how do you know anyone said l’chaim? The bottle could have been started at a different time.
