chazak vomotz
“Nit a chassid” is not synonymous with Misnaged. There are millions of Jews in the world who are not Chassidim and they are not Misnagdim.
TO Horav Braun Shlit”ah YAIRICH YOMIM ALL MAMLACHTOI!
It’s a time for healing.
The best line our new Rav, Horav Braun Shelita, had said was:
“Let bygones be bygones”
I am sure he will bring Shalom to the Badatz, at last and unite the community with true achdus.
You write “imagine the tables were turned, Think what would have been if Rabbi Schwei had been the one opposing and not showing up at a Hachtorah of the New Rov. What would the reaction been then? To throw out Rabbi Schwei, right ??” For your info, we were already in such a scenario when Rabbis Zirkind and Segal – who have Semiche and Shimush for more then 10 years – were elected, and yet Rabbi Shwey did not come to their Hachtoreh…did any one say Rabbi shwey should be thrown out??? NO. so you are just talking a lot… Read more »
Well said!
It’s over.
Boruch Hashem.
some people dont even kmow when a good thing hits them in face
The Conspiracy Theorists always question the most elementary and obvious credentials of everything under the sun. Those who today, still keep asking to see Obama’s Birth Certificate are the same ones who believe in UFO’s and other non-sense just to make some foolish and baseless machlokes and to cast baseless doubts. Why doesn’t he just show these fools, his Original Birth Certificate, so these idiots will perhaps Finlay shut up for a change??? It’s obvious that such fools who seek non-stop Machlokes will never stop griping and no mater what you show them they will come up with some other… Read more »
i do agree there are sum issues,
but the truth is, if you wouldnt have become Rov now, you would have become Rov in the near future, so i think these few early years will give you the experience for you!
hatzlocha rabbo!
Wow! Marvelous!
Poor lighting…can’t see the rav’s face.
Before we pay him, he should take the smicha and dayonis tests like anyone else, then go for shemush.
Your words are so eloquent. You have summed up what the community needs at this time, with wisdom and vision.
Don’t hide! Your sensitivity and compassion should be used in the service of our community!
To reiterate your message: We need a leader who can rise above the fray, and reach out with warmth to heal our broken community. Not another partisan.
Your words ring out like a clarion call:
“Your attitude that you have some kind of Divine Manifest Destiny will accomplish little. What is needed is humility, sensitivity, integrity, vision, and compassion for a wounded community.”
How true!
Rabbi Braun is an absolute legend!
Its a great pity that hes had so much prejudice from the arrogant ignoramuses that heavily populate Crown Heights.
I have faith that he will rise above the garbage and do a great service to the community!
Although I must admit I did vote for Rabbi Braun Shlit”a, I did it with a lot of questions in heart. Last night I attended the ‘Hactara’ for Rabbi Braun. His speech simply blow me away! I now truly believe, crown heights got the best Rov possible! From every word you can hear his enormous knowledge in ‘neigle’ and ‘chassiedos’ and yet a simple and humble man. Now it is up to us! Are we gonna stand up for our new Rov, or are we gonna let the ‘ballai maclokes’ continue their battle?? Unfortunately it is clear they do now… Read more »
soo different than the old guard! bh
They were where they have been for so many years.
SLEEPING.
This looks like the perfect Rov, Sharp, Humble, and about the “Shem”, He explained that he means it in another way , and not like in the story (for #16).
why repeat the mantra: he doesn’t have semicha? Didn’t you hear the news? ALL of the arguments being made were brought up to the Zablo Beid Din. The Rabbonim listened to the arguments, then they set out to investigate the facts, and you know what their unanimous conclusion = daas torah was? Rabbi Braun has and had semicha! and that recently he also got dayanus. so who are you trying to sell the Brooklyn bridge to? you cannot accept that the psak din doesn’t assist your political agenda? Do you think that if you repeat the same falsehood enough times… Read more »
Be part of the solution before it has been solved.
No I’m not a young teenager, but I am VERY excited about this event, and very grateful to the Eibishter for bringing us to this time B’nissei Nissim!
Thanks to all the people who persevered in this effort – especially Zaki! May you all be Blessed.
May we see only progression in the Achdus and Chassidishkeit in our community.
May we merit to Moshiach now!
Do you believe that the more times you repeat the fabricated story of the lack of semicha credentials – the more it will become real? Or maybe some will begin to believe your fantasies (the way you would like the facts to be)? Does he need to show his semicha to me? You? He showd it to 5 choshuve rabbonim (chosen by all the fighting parties). Later questions were raised about it, by people that will look for any excuse to attempt to have him disqualified (because they don’t know how to accept a lose of a democratic election), the… Read more »
I am very impressed by this man’s wit & chochmas chayim!
crownheights is blessed to have a Young Smart Chevreman!
(with no long history of loyalties)
To all those who put this together…..
ימלא השם משאלת לבבכם לטוב ולברכה
Every negative comment that was made about the Rav’s speech was taken out of context. He pointed no fingers, accused no one, only addressed the negativity itself. And this Rav has no delusions about who his superiors are and what his mission entails. A powerful talk which brings great hope for the future! Shehecheyanu!
I heard a lot about “machlokes”, but seeing the comments on this entire issue made something very clear. The people who came out against R Braun are wrong. The people davening in 770 day to day are on the right side.
Although I don’t speak Yiddish (I wish the Rabbi had spoken more English), I was able to understand enough to know this fellow is a “class act!” I like his enthusiasm and ability to connect with his fellow Jews. Yasher Koach!
It is obvious from watching this speech that YYB could have gotten smicha from any rov at any time.
The trubeling question is : why didn’t he?
There is a clear hoira’ah from the Rebbe. There are some big chasidim that did not fulfill that hoira’ah but they would have required months of work. For him it was a simple task and he never found it important to do.
The other issue was brought up before and that is trust. He claimed in an email that he had 5 smichas. Ainoas dvorim –today s rambam
Sounded like a speach of war to me. And such derogetory comments, sarcastic comments directed obviously towards his opposers. Speach I wouldn’t expect from a Rov “oisge-eidelt” by Chassidus, a Chassidisher Rov…
the fact is C.H. never had so many people attend a Hachtoro.
Another fact the Drosho was briliant.
For the people that didn’t attend it is their loss.
I beleive any one that attended and it was packed was inspired. Hatzlocho Rabbo Harav Broin
It is still no answer Y no Smicha AND NO SHIMUSH
yES BLUT VET ZICH GISSEN OBER sHOLOM VET NITZEIN
The fact that he told Tamir to make the Hachtora without signing the financial contract was only so that he can save face because he knew that if he didn’t say that, it would go on anyway. Since he was going to be ignored anyway, so this way at least it makes it look as though he got a concession. The Ksav Rabbonus which Rabbi Barun was given is the ONLY thing which makes him officially Rov, defacto. The so called “contract” just states the details of the sallery but he has 100% full power as a New Rav now,… Read more »
By all the seforim he quoted at the beginning. He must be a HUGE talmid chochom. Hahaha.
The speech was very nice but who really controls him going forward?
He will be a fine rov if all the riff-raff and micharcherai riv who have dividved this community and divided the the rabbonim, stop meddling and let the community be bshalom and shalvah.
Down with the hate mongers, politicians, radical extremists, professional mafia etc.etc.!!!
Allow R. Braun to be himself and help this community grow up!
WHEN I READ THE COMMENTS OF NUMBER 15, 19 AND 25 I UNDERSTOOD WITH THE MOST PERFECT CLARITY W H Y M O S H I A C H IS N O T H E R E Y E T, AND WHAT IT IS THAT’S HOLDING HIM BACK. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE CONGRADULATED FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!! (ALONG WITH THE YETZER HARA)
This is oddly similar to another election we had not too far back. People questioned his credentials, but once they saw he speaks well, hes suddenly forgiven. It isn’t working out too well so far. Can you guess who I’m talking about?(HINT he holds the highest office in this country!!)
he is obviously bright but his oratory skills are not more than mediocre and he was very cynical. what’s with all the cynical one liners? maybe he was nervous but he would have done well to leave the cynical comments out.
There was a big game with the Jets last night, no proof!
Anyway you slice it – he comitted fraud and needs to come clean.
I did not believe the day that the powers to be in Crown Heights would respect the democratic wishes of the Crown Heights electorate. It seemed, for a time, that shenanigans would come into play, corruption and power struggles would prevail. This would not be the first time in Jewish history for this to happen: in the time of the Beis Hamikdash, the seat of the Kohen Gadol became totally corrupted – which led to the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash and to Jewish civilization as we knew it – a blow our people have yet to recover from. How… Read more »
Enough of these illiterate folks who probably can’t understand mechaber and ramo and are questioning this amazing talmid chochom’s credentials. If Torah and the Rebbe’s will mean anything to you, accept Rav Braun wholeheartedly.
Think for a moment, imagine the tables were turned,
Think what would have been if Rabbi Schwei had been the one opposing and not showing up at a Hachtorah of the New Rov.
What would the reaction been then? To throw out Rabbi Schwei, right? So why not the same response to those instigating machloikes in the shchuna?!
But I am still in doubt…..
I have Known Rabbi Asdoba for many years. How Can I commit to something he is not happy about?
I know many people who can speak well…but to be on the BD”TZ is another thing.
What C”H needed was a good rov through a clean entry..
I just dont know….
I guess with the best intentions, people might misunderstand you. Rabbi Braun was not at all condescending nor threatening. The reference to a ‘name’ was said jokingly, meaning that he hopes to prevail through Achdus and uniting the community. As to ‘Blut vet zich giessen – ober Sholom vet zayin’ it’s a famous line from the Yiddish humorist Shimon Dzigan. Taken in context, it is far from a threat. It’s a joke! As for the Smicha issue – the knowledge of the Smicha topics is obviously a non-issue. Try to find out how many people who were in 770 at… Read more »
After World War II had ended there stil remained many solders hidden in the forests who refused to realise that it’s over and they continued their relentless war long after everyone knew it was all over. Let’s face it. Someone has given Rav Osdoba very bad advice, until now. Someone has caused the Rav very great Bizyonos, especially in regard to last night. If Rav Osdoba would have come last night, to the Hachtara, he would have been honored with Kovod Melochim and he would look like a Real Winner, rather than look like person who is 100% controlled and… Read more »
Reb Yosef do you have Semicha, did you have Semicha before your name was place on the ballot. I fear not. Please resign. You are there under false pretenses. You misled the Rabbonim and our community. Have some dignity vacate the position you have been erroneously given under dubious circumstance. The CHBD is sunk in the muddy water of ill repute, it does not need to lay at the bottom of the ocean. Reb. Yosef you are the people supporting you are pepetuating fraud, you have stolen the trust of Anash in the Shechunah. The Rebbe must be very very… Read more »

the place was packed with young guys that want a fresh start, this guy is the future
THE RABBI SHOULD OF SAID A NIT CHOSSID INSTEAD OF THE WORD MISNAGID
I also made Shehechiyanu, Beshem Umalchus, last night.
It’s clear that he has what it takes to bring peace to the community and to reach out to our youth and to restore trust and tranquility and credibility to our united Badatz.
We are used to listen to pilpulim that most people don’t understand. This new rov is more down to earth and in touch with the common folk. GREAT SPEACH
it is indeed a great day in the history of crown heights, it is so refreshing to see a young and up and coming rov. may we all grow from strength to strength.
I see mush potential for this rav as one of are leaders.
i hope to see the fruits of are laber speedily for all good things, with peace and growth to are community, and from here to all other community’s arond the world . and in this zechos , we should merit the coming of moshiach speedily now. amen!
Boruch Hashem for giving us this great person!
Anyone else wonder why only the same tired partisan players took the front seat by R’ Brauns ‘installation?’
Rabbi Levy, Rabbi Yisroel Friedman anybody from the Hanholah of Ohelei TOrah roshei Yeshiva (besides R’ Nachmen Shapiro)? Rabbonim Heller Segel Osdaba Gorelik? principals?
Same old people around the same problems…
Nobody was there.. No Bais SHmuel crowd and no kolel Guys nobody ….
Just the same OLD >>>>
WOW!
Yossi Jakobson has competition…
He spoke amazing, you can tell he is a very smart and sharp Rov. I really believe once you meet him or even just hear him speak, you would have no longer problems with him!
He is the Rov Crown Heights needes!!
Baruch Hashem we have him now!
שהחיינו וקימנו והגיענו לזמן הזה!
does he have smicha? yes or no. i dont care how much he knows i want to know if any rav gave him smicha
thats what they have been doing all these years how much more blood will need to flow beause of these people how many more young children will lose their parent? how many parents will lose their kids? rabbi broin this is not sydney we are done with machlokos!!
in short, all he spoke was of machlokes, and how he is excited to be a part of it, he said no words of how he hopes to bring achdus and good to our community.
what a shame!!
All else included, he’s an excellent speaker!
B”H for this blessing with
.”BLOOD WILL FLOW, BUT ACHDUSE THERE WILL BE”.
He was quoting an old well known Yiddish joke, stop trying to knit pick. This was an amazing speech!
very nice.
hes humble and sharp
wxactly what you need in a rov
you need to know, be smart, and sharp. but overall he needs humility. he definitely has
i voted for rabbi braun but after seeling the people that support him last night and the people he puts himself with i regret voting for him. i hope im wrong
.”BLOOD WILL FLOW, BUT ACHDUSE THERE WILL BE”.
Hatzlacha raba tzum nayem Rov!
hes very humble and speaks clear!!!
After years of division I was hoping for a new era in Crown Heights in the wake of Din Torah. Even after the questions were raised about your credentials I still hoped for a new future. I watched your speech with a hope for change, and truthfully I was deeply disturbed. The community in Crown Heights is in crisis. The greatest tragedy has been a breakdown in authority since Gimmel Tammuz. Other Kehillahs of Anash have refocused, created structures that fostering Chassideshe values. That has not been the case in Crown Heights. It’s clear the ongoing Maklokes has created a… Read more »
please let the past be the past forgive me for not having smicha and lets move ahead – i love making fun of misnagdim in public – i am proud to be a radical – i dont know why i came to all this tzoros and i ask myself every day this questions – i do what i am told by the few people in CH – and gut yom tov!
CH is very lucky to have such a great Ruv. Looking forward to a bright future with the ruv.
Great speech. Really. I like it. He is young and doesn’t fear to drasticly tackle some very serious issues in CH.
He looks like he will make a good rov for CH.
i was at a work instead of missing the event of a generation
when you compare this speech with the usual two hour yiddish monotoned stuff we are used to, I actually feel there is some hope.
speaks very well, he’s obviously extremely learned and sharp as a whip.
fired up!!!
sounds like a gr8 guy
All else aside, he’s an excellent speaker!
im very impressed
it was a mazing
great speech.
he is humble. he is sharp. smart.
may he have Hatzlacha Rabba
What a clear headed speaker, without mincing words. A great clarity for our youth.
finally a young down to earth rabbi
