Editor To Present Joy of Pickling

For the first time in Crown Heights, women will have the opportunity to master the art of pickling at the annual breakfast of Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights this Sunday, March 15, 10:30 AM.

Held at Chovevei Torah hall, a hands-on demonstration will be presented by Shifra Klein, Culinary Artist and Editor-in-Chief of The Joy of Kosher magazine, is famous for her vast knowledge and experience in the world of Kosher food.

Klein will be presenting tips and tricks on adding color and flavor to your table. From tangy, crunchy baby dills, to salty sauerkraut, Klein says you can pickle anything, even watermelon. The possibilities are endless.

“Pickling is a simple and fun family activity,” Klein says. “I especially love pickling for Pesach as it adds exciting options to a time of year with limited food options.”

The breakfast will benefit the Bikur Cholim volunteer organization which was founded in 1975 and continues to help and support to the families in the community whose relatives are unfortunately suffering from serious and life-threatening illnesses.

The event will feature a delicious breakfast, with an array of baked goods, cheese platters, artisanal butters, refreshing beverages, hearty sandwiches, desserts and more, all being prepared and set up by volunteers and the party planner Chanie Greenbaum.

This event, for women – by women – will be honoring the dedication and devotion of the wives of members of Hatzalah Crown Heights, and the unparalleled commitment of the Bikur Cholim volunteers.
