Crown Heights Day Camp Machne Chok leYisroel is off to its second summer in a way which has left even its directors amazed.
The camp, founded by Crown Heights resident Rabbi Hershel Moss, was established to provide the Crown Heights growing community with more educational alternatives for children. MCY specializes in giving more individualized attention, stimulating activities, and exciting opportunities for children to experience growth in their own way.
This week, campers at Machne Chok leYisroel in Crown Heights celebrated the Frierdiker Rebbe’s Chag HaGeulah amidst joy and inspiration.
On Monday, Reb Binyamin Mentz, a warm and venerable Chasid farbrenged for the boys. He spoke about his personal encounters with the Frierdiker Rebbe, as well as some famous stories. The boys relished in the niggunim and “farbaysen” (nosh) as they saw a living example of how a Chosid can live with the words of his Rebbe for over 60 years!
On Tuesday the campers visited the Ohel where they had their own personal meetings with the Rebbe. One 6 year old camper said that he felt that he “grew” from this experience. After lunch, they were off for an afternoon of fun and hiking at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. They saw osprey bringing fish to their nest, played on the beach, hiked the trails and came back tired from an exciting day both in ruchnius and in gashmius!
Machne Chok leYisroel Day Camp offers a high-quality, innovative learning program, great activities and trips. Currently with 20 boys KA”H ages 5 – 10, it is an opportunity for boys to have a great time while growing in Torah and midos tovos. Parents have even requested that they open as a Cheder for the school year.
One parent had this to say about her son’s experience last summer: “Thank you so much for giving Mendel such an amazing summer. We’ve never seen him so excited to go to camp–to the extent that he didn’t want to leave! Your enthusiasm and dedication created such a warm, welcoming environment, and your innovative trips topped off the summer with real bonding experiences for the boys. Mendel learned so much from you–we were so amazed each time he repeated a chasidishe story, showed us the nekudos he learned, or told us something about the parsha. Your camp was a huge success and we’re grateful that Mendel was able to participate and gain so many positive memories.”

Just an observer. The camp looks phenomenal and all the boys look like they are having a grand time, learning and experiencing.
All the children seem to be having such a wonderful time and experience together.. building lasting friendships while learning torah and also having fun during the summer time. Lots of good luck. Mazel Tov on the success of your camp!!
It Realy Is
This is the second year for 1 of my grandsons and the 1st for his brother. The boys love the camp activities and the camp counselors. Thank you for doing such a fine job !
Rabbi Moss is one of the most dedicated educators in our community. He is constantly striving to make his program better, to explore every avenue to help a child reach his full potential, and most importantly he has ENDURING patience for every child.
My only disappointment is that I don’t have any sons yet to send to Rabbi Moss’ camp!
A great and casting staff. Two of my grandchildren go there and they love it!!
I hope he will open a school!
My son goes here and I must say that the staff is very passionate and dedicated. They spend a lot of time after hours speaking to parents to see how they can improve. I recommend it highly.
I second that! This is my son’s second year, and in both summers I saw more enthusiasm in my son for his davening and his learning than during the school year. Yasher Koach Rabbi Moss!
is a really great guy!
rabbi moss really cares about each child on there own level and works to ensure each individual is happy and growing in a positive atmosphere.
