Organizers, along with the office of Council Member Crystal Hudson, have confirmed that the “Lubavitcher Rebbe Way” street sign will be officially installed and unveiled on April 6th (Ches Nissan) at 4:30 PM, during the week of Yud Aleph Nissan. The event is being coordinated with the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), the Mayor’s Office, and the NYPD.
The new street sign will be placed at the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and President Street, just below the existing President Street sign.
A community-wide celebration will mark this historic occasion, with President Street closed off for Torah, Tefillah, and Tzedakah, alongside live music, performances, distinguished guests, and elected officials.
“As the local council member, it is an honor to name and unveil the sign ‘Lubavitcher Rebbe Way.’ Please join us as we celebrate the Rebbe’s legacy and dedicate this street in his honor,” said Council Member Crystal Hudson.
Yaacov Behrman, one of the event organizers, called the occasion historic, highlighting the Rebbe’s encouragement for municipalities in Israel to name streets after Chabad Rebbes. The Rebbe wrote, “This is indeed a matter of public merit and honor… Street names have the power to awaken inner awareness in all who pass by.”
Reflecting on the significance of this dedication, Behrman said, “This is especially meaningful, as the sign will bear the Rebbe’s name on the very street where he lived.”

This is a very important thing but I think the all eastern parkway would have been a better choice as the hundreds of thousands driving through it would have had the Rebbes way reminder not only on signs but on their waze and Google directions apps. Perhaps they tried but couldn’t get it. We could have made a campaign sending messages to the politicians involved. See if still possible

Crystal Hudson has my family’s vote as this is a monumental change and shows respect to the community. I dont understand why it wasnt prioritized before.
Lets fixup Lefferts Park!!
The playground area is really not safe… in addition, we need swings for bigger kids.
