In just one week, on Monday night, the eve of 24 Tevet, Shifra & Puah will host its annual Partnership Dinner in the Oholei Torah Ballroom. This year’s event carries a powerful message: the women of Crown Heights are no longer just donors — they are partners.
Hundreds of women are expected to gather for an evening of appreciation, connection, and shared responsibility for the future of the community. Held on the night of the Alter Rebbe’s Hiloula, the dinner marks an important shift in the way Shifra & Puah works together with the community it serves.
More Than a Fundraiser
Shifra & Puah supports over 1,000 new mothers each year in Crown Heights. The organization is there for women during the most sensitive time of their lives — the days and weeks surrounding childbirth.
Shifra & Puah provides practical, hands-on support that allows new mothers to recover, bond with their babies, and feel cared for when they need it most. Services include daily breakfast delivery, help with cleaning and babysitting, doula support for women who cannot afford it, access to a warm and supportive Kempetor home, assistance with lactation consultations, a confidential helpline for postpartum emotional support, Shabbos meals, and more.
The organization explains that this level of ongoing care cannot rely on one-time donations alone.
This year, Shifra & Puah introduced a new model called the Partnership Circle. Anyone who donates or raises $770 — the cost of basic support for one mother — becomes an active partner in the mission.
As part of the evening, a special Partnership Convention will take place, giving partners the opportunity to take part in discussions and help shape priorities and new services for the year ahead.
A Personal Connection to the Work
Partners will also benefit from a meaningful new feature called a Day of Dedication. Each partner selects a date, and all of Shifra & Puah’s work on that day is dedicated in her merit.
In appreciation of a partnership of $770 and above, participants will receive an Exclusive Appreciation Package, which includes a personalized luxury gift, automatic entry into the campaign’s grand prize raffles, and admission to the elegant and Gala Dinner.
A Night of Music and Inspiration
The dinner has been carefully designed to feel both uplifting and refined — a chance for women to step away from daily responsibilities and enjoy an evening of inspiration.
The highlight of the program will be a musical performance by internationally known singer Bracha Jaffe, who is traveling specially to headline the event with a moving and meaningful presentation.
How to Join the Partnership Circle
Attendance is open to women who pre-register as Shifra & Puah Partners. There are two ways to join, both available at charidy.com/shifraupuah:
• Personal Donation: $77 a month for ten months, or a one-time donation of $770
• Peer-to-Peer: Open a personal TEAM page, set a goal of $770, and invite friends and family to join you.
Once you join as a partner — either by donating or committing to fundraise — you will receive a personal email link to confirm your RSVP and receive your barcode for entry to the dinner.
“We are looking for women who want to help ensure that Shifra & Puah remains a go-to for every new mother in Crown Heights”, the campaign committee shared. “In one week, we come together and begin working as true partners”.
With just days to go, the message is clear: this is more than a dinner. It is an invitation to step forward, take responsibility, and become part of something that supports women when they need it most. The team hints that the evening will include meaningful moments — and a few surprises as well.
