With the Democratic primaries now concluded – aside from the Mayoral race – candidates endorsed by Crown Heights’ Political Action Committees secured key victories.
Incumbent Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso clinched the primary, solidifying his path to a second term.
In the race for Public Advocate, Jumaane Williams defeated Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar of Queens, maintaining his hold on the citywide post.
The community-endorsed candidate for NYC Comptroller, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, emerged victorious over Council Member Justin Brannan, who conceded late Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, Council Member Crystal Hudson handily won re-election in her district, securing another term on the City Council.
In the Mayoral race, Andrew Cuomo, who aggressively campaigned in New York’s Jewish communities, conceded the race earlier in the night as Zohran Mamdani maintained his lead, which will likely continue once ranked-choice votes are counted next Tuesday.
The stunning rise of the 33-year-old democratic socialist with a long history of anti-Israel activism sent shockwaves through New York City’s political establishment, raising questions over the ideological direction of the Democratic Party, Jewish Insider reported.
Mamdami was born in Uganda and grew up on New York’s Upper West Side, the son of a film-maker and a professor of post-colonial studies at Columbia University. He became a US citizen in 2018, and ran for the state assembly in 2020.
Many Jewish voters are expressing fear after his being elected in the primary, due to his accusing Israel of genocide and refusal to condemn extreme rhetoric such as “globalize the intifada.”
NYC business owners have also expressed dismay, criticizing Mamdani’s radical socialist proposals to freeze rent for four years for over a million people in affordable housing and raise the corporate tax rate to 11.5%.

Except for Mayor, they picked all the leading candidates which would have ANYWAYS won, with or without our communities support.
Would it had hurt if they would have mentioned to these candidates about the CH homeless shelters? Our local elected officials are so liberal they don’t even know, how much less so, care) about all the homeless shelters in CH
What, you want that the homeless are in the streets instead of in the shelters?
Are these really the picks and choices of the Crown Heights residents?
Are you ready for the left wing big development policies of City Councilmember Crystal Hudson and BP Antonio Reynoso which will Manhattanize the Shchuna ?

Mamdani was not elected in the mayoral primary. He was nominated or named to be the Democratic candidate.
Yes, if 71,000 Hareidim CITYWIDE had registered “Democrat”, Mamzerani would have paygered. Also, if Esther refused to act, help would have come, and if help froze over, etc. bit we don’t deal with imaginary “ifs”, because citywide, the Jexit is irreversible and halachic. We shouldn’t keep pretending that the animus underlining the “switchto democrat” movement isn’t being funded by luberals as a way to alter our thinking leftwardly. Better Bloomberg diverted all that gelt to the Cuomo donation, thus doubling that amount and possibly winning. Everyone requiring it should be bussed to the polls this November! This, by the way,… Read more »
