It’s that time of year again, and as usual Crown Heights residents will be spending Tuesday afternoon and night performing the Kapparos ritual on the corner of Kingston Avenue and President Street.
In a change from previous years, when the Eshel Kapparos typically began at 6:00 PM, this year they have moved up the start time to 4:00 PM. The earlier time was arranged for the convenience of neighborhood families with children, and to reduce the pressure and crowding that often occurs later in the evening.
The chickens have already arrived, and residents will be able to begin the ritual promptly at 4:00 PM.
The Kapparos is under the supervision of CHK – The Crown Heights Beis Din, with every chicken guaranteed to be given to Tzedaka, to Eshel – Hachnosas Orchim, to feed the guests.
