The unification of the Beis Din of Crown Heights was hailed as “an amazing accomplishment” by Zaki Tamir, head of the neighborhood’s representative body.
According to the agreement approved on Friday, Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba, Rabbi Yaacov Schwei and Rabbi Yosef Braun will work hand in hand on all areas of their jurisdiction as the 3 members of the rabbinical court, also known as Badatz Crown Heights.
“A stipulation was signed between all the rabbonim of the Beis Din of Crown Heights and they agreed and accepted upon themselves to take a risk on each other,” said Tamir, an attorney who is the Chairman of the Vaad Hakohol and Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC).
In a clip filmed outside the US District Court – Eastern District of New York, Tamir excitedly announced that “the Beis Din of Crown Heights is one again” and said it was “one of the most significant days of my life.”
All 3 rabbis signed a letter to the public, dated Friday, 16 Tammuz 5779, calling on members of the community to use the upcoming fast day on Sunday to increase in learning Torah, reciting Tehillim and giving Tzedaka.
The reason they cite is the new regulations of the New York State Department of Education to limit the Judaic learning hours in Yeshivos and schools.
This joint call signaled the first move towards reconciliation and cooperation between the Rabbis who have until now operated separately – including establishing their own kosher certification.
Tamir said that according to the agreement, Rabbi Shlomo Segal will continue his role in the Beis Din as a Dayan and in the same capacity in the CHK kosher certification which will now be united into one entity.

Unity is always good! Peace and love to all my Jewish neighbors.
Congratulations Rabbonim and Vaad
The best news for our community
What happens in CH is reflected all over the world
actus brings Moshiach immediately!

If this doesn’t affect my daily life then I don’t really care about their infighting. I want to know what is going to change now.
Wether or not you feel if your head decides your foot should hurt, the foot hurts.
Perhaps with the new rabbonim, you’ll start feeling why it’s important to have one BD in your community
getting rid of machlokes is always good but especially during the 3 weeks
Now Moshiach can smile, and reveal himself to the world
This really is a special day for our community!
wow!
Lets hope it lasts
Im in tears of joy. This will bring tremendous brochos to crown heights and therby to chabad in the whole world and all klall yisroel! This is truly amazing on so many levels! May we all learm from this! No question we are ready to greet moshiach! May it be now!!
Great work but one point, which is a side point in the story but no side point in real life, the proposed curriculum enforcement isn’t just about hours but primarily about culture, modern western culture being taught in its many aspects and enforced by the government. It’s in the proposed regulations R”L and is the same was what they’re trying to do in the UK. Wake up.
Is there a link to see the court papers regarding this judgment?
You are a true chossid. You give the Rebbe Much Nachas! Keep up the good work. Kiflaim vToshia
Let’s hope this will lead to peace in 770 and that 770 shouldn’t be ruled by one political party. Everyone should be comfortable in 770.
Kol hakavod to Zaki for all his hard work to make this happen
Didan notzach!
