“The inner Nachshon” There was a Jew named Nachshon, all he wanted was to continue going forward, the majority had no thought of going toward, the water. He made no Chesboinos, he jumped, not knowing what would happen but he had strong faith that this required Mesirus Nefesh. We all have those moments where the only answer is awakening the inner Nachshon and doing what’s right despite the odds.

Faigy Borgen, 43, Migdal Ha’Emek
I’m Faigy Borgen, 43 years old, married to Yoel, and blessed with eight children. Originally from Israel, I spent 8 years on an educational mission in Moscow before settling in Migdal Ha’Emek for the past 13 years. Formerly a teacher, I’ve recently undergone a significant personal transformation, reconnecting with my inner self as a Chabad chasid. Now, I share these insights through mentoring, lectures, and workshops, alongside teaching didactics at Beit Hana Seminary in Safed. I also write a column for Kfar Chabad’s ‘Neshi’ newspaper, blending personal reflections with insights from the weekly parshah, accompanied by my own drawings. Despite a 20-year hiatus, I’ve reignited my passion for painting, finding it not only fulfilling but also enriching my role as a mother. Through my artwork and song lyrics, I strive to share my inner journey and connection to the divine. The painting I submitted for the competition reflects my soul’s connection to the Creator, inspired by Sefer HaTanya. Created over several days while immersed in Chabad music, I hope it captures the essence of my inner experience. Thank you for this opportunity to express myself.
This drawing either reflects the path of liberation, both physical and spiritual, from oppressive forces, similar to the exit from Egypt. It emphasizes the struggle with social restrictions, fears and self-doubt. Despite the difficulties, there is a call to embrace the strength within, acknowledge the divine within, and free yourself from the limitations imposed by others and yourself. It is a powerful reminder of resilience, the pursuit of authenticity, and the eternal quest for freedom and fulfillment.
