The annual Israeli Independence Day festival took place Sunday in Los Angeles, with thousands of Israelis participating.
Rabbi Yossi Malka of Chabad of the Valley in Los Angeles runs a booth each year, offering to put tefillin on participants and giving out Shabbos Candles.
21 Shluchim from the Valley Area of Los Angeles participated.
A booth was also set up to advertise local Chabad summer camps, and encourage registration.
Approixmately 6,000 people visited the Chabad booths. 2,500 Shabbos candle kits were distributed.
“Hundreds of people came to put on tefillin,” said Malka, “some said the last time they put on tefillin was at our booth last year.”
The mivtzoim at the festival was sponsored by Yossi Schneerson of California.
