Freed hostage Matan Angrest and his father Chagai Angrest visited Chabad of Midtown on Monday.
They met with Rabbi Yehoshua, Brocha Chana, Mendel and Adina Metzger.
Chagai has joined services and meals many times since October 7th – along with the rest of the Angrest family – advocating for Matan’s release.
Chaggai promised he’d bring Matan to Chabad of Midtown when he got out, and on this day, he kept that promise.
On Purim and many shabbatot, Chagai spoke to large crowds at Chabad of Midtown, inspiring hundreds with his faith and positivity. This morning, those in the meeting were jubilant to hear from Matan himself. He was released just five weeks ago. He shared stories of his time in the tunnels – sharing how he managed to pray three times a day while there (he figured out the times based on when his captors were praying) and kept Shabbat. What a lesson in faith.
Shehechyanu v’kiemanu v’higianu lazeman hazeh!

The Metzgers are the best they do incredible work
